Osteopathy

Osteopathy is a hands-on, holistic therapy that focuses on diagnosing, treating and preventing a wide range of issues. By holistic, we mean that osteopaths treat the patient as a whole, taking into account everything in their health and lifestyle that may be causing or maintaining their pain or discomfort.

Osteopathy aims to restore balance within the body by improving joint mobility, strengthening weakened muscles, addressing asymmetries and releasing tension in soft tissues, helping to support and accelerate the body's natural healing processes.

Osteopathy can help with aches and pains, sports injuries, postural issues and more, whether symptoms are recent or long-standing.

While everyone can benefit from osteopathy, it may be particularly helpful for people who spend long periods sitting (at a desk or driving), perform repetitive movements (through work or hobbies), or experience regular pain, stiffness or reduced mobility. Depending on the patient, treatment can be occasional or on an ongoing maintenance basis.

You can read more about osteopathy on the website of the General Osteopathic Council.

Sport Massage

Sports massage is a designed to prevent and relieve muscle tension, reduce aches and pains, and support recovery from injury. Despite the name, it's not just for athletes—it can benefit anyone experiencing stiffness, discomfort, or muscular tightness caused by sport, exercise, work, or everyday life.

Using a combination of deep tissue massage, stretching, and trigger point therapy, sports massage helps improve circulation, increase flexibility, restore movement, and promote recovery. It can be effective for muscle tightness, sports injuries, postural strain, reduced mobility, and long-standing muscular discomfort.

Whether you're training regularly, spending long hours at a desk, recovering from an event, or simply looking to move more comfortably, sports massage can help you feel and function at your best.

For athletes, sports massage can be useful at any stage of their training process, both before and after an event.

Regular maintenance sports massage can also support injury prevention and enhance overall wellbeing—helping you stay active, healthy, and performing at your best.

Paediatric Osteopathy

Paediatric osteopathy uses all the same principles as osteopathy and applies it to children. It's gentle and targeted to children's development and needs, because babies and children are very much not mini adults. It focuses on supporting healthy growth and development by improving the function of the body’s muscles, joints, tissues and fluids.

Treating babies and children usually combines cranial, visceral and musculoskeletal techniques.  They are all gentle and safe.

For babies, osteopathy may help with feeding difficulties, sleep disturbances, digestive issues, head or neck asymmetry, and general unsettledness (such as colic).

Dry Needling

COMING SOON

Dry needling is a safe and effective treatment used to relieve muscular pain, reduce tension, and improve movement. It involves the insertion of very fine, sterile needles into specific areas of muscle known as trigger points—tight, sensitive bands of muscle tissue.

Despite using similar needles, dry needling is different from acupuncture. Rather than being based on traditional Chinese medicine, dry needling is grounded in modern anatomy and focuses on treating musculoskeletal conditions and movement dysfunction.

Dry needling can help reduce muscle tightness, improve flexibility, ease discomfort, and support the body's natural healing processes. It is commonly used to treat sports injuries, muscular strains, neck and back pain, postural tension, and persistent areas of muscular discomfort.

Thanks to how deep in the muscle it works, dry needling is often used alongside other manual therapy techniques to help achieve the best possible outcomes.  At Korf clinic we offer dry needling as an adjunct to osteopathy, so if you would like to try it please book an appointment with our osteopath, Aliénor.

If you have any questions about dry needling or would like to know whether it is suitable for you, please get in touch. We'd be happy to help.
