Frequently Asked Questions
Osteopathy: Aliénor will welcome you and ask about what has brought you in, as well as your medical history. She will then carry out an examination, looking at your posture, movement, joints and muscles. If she feels it is safe and appropriate to do so, she will treat you using hands-on osteopathic techniques. She may also give you exercises to do at home to support and speed up your recovery.
Baby Osteopathy: Aliénor will ask what has brought you and your baby in, and will take some time to discuss your family background, your baby's birth story, and both your and your baby's medical history. She will then gently examine your baby and, where appropriate, provide treatment. She is also likely to offer advice and simple exercises to practise at home, helping to support your baby's progress between treatments.
Sports massage: Oliver will begin with a consultation to discuss your lifestyle, activities, any injuries or areas of concern, and relevant medical history. He will do a short physical assessment and then start your treatment. At the end of your session, Oliver will provide aftercare advice to help maximise the benefits of your treatment and support your recovery.
Babies can be a little unpredictable, but if possible, try to ensure they are fed, changed, and well-rested before their appointment. This will help them get the most out of their treatment.
The clinic is right next to the car park, so you may prefer to leave the pram in the car. However, if your baby is asleep when you arrive, you are welcome to bring their car seat into the clinic.
Please bring along anything that helps keep your baby comfortable and entertained, such as favourite toys, books or music.
If you are attending for breastfeeding difficulties, it can be helpful for Aliénor to observe a feed as part of her assessment.
For osteopathy: Please wear loose, comfortable clothing. Ideally, we may need to see the skin around the area being assessed, so you may wish to wear or bring shorts, or underwear that you feel comfortable being seen in. We always aim to keep patients as covered as possible, but in some cases we may ask you to remain in your underwear for part of the examination or treatment—only if you are comfortable doing so.
For babies: Your baby may be examined in their nappy for a short period, so clothing that allows easy access to their arms and legs is helpful. However, Aliénor treats most babies while they remain clothed, so lightweight, comfortable clothing that allows gentle treatment through the fabric is ideal.
For sports massage: Depending on the areas being worked on, you may wish to wear comfortable underwear, sports shorts, or a sports bra that allows access to the back and shoulders if required.
Yes.
This is a very common question.
Sports massage is often a good option if you're experiencing muscular tension, tightness, soreness, or stiffness, particularly if it's related to exercise, sport, work, or everyday activities. It can also be helpful for supporting recovery, improving flexibility, and maintaining healthy movement.
Osteopathy may be more appropriate if you're experiencing pain, restricted movement, recurring injuries, postural issues, joint problems, or symptoms that seem more complex or persistent. Osteopaths assess how the body moves and functions as a whole and can provide hands-on treatment, advice, and rehabilitation exercises.
There is some overlap between the two treatments, and many conditions can benefit from either approach. If you're still unsure, please get in touch (07909626467) and we'll be happy to discuss your symptoms and help you choose the most suitable appointment.
We can provide an itemised invoice receipt for you to submit to your health insurance provider or healthcare cashback scheme.
Please note that we do not bill insurance companies directly, and payment remains the responsibility of the patient.
Aliénor, our osteopath, is a registered WPA provider.
Not at all—sports massage is for anyone who wants it! Provided there are no medical contraindications or other factors that would make treatment unsuitable.
Our clinic room is very welcoming but relatively small, so where possible, we encourage patients to attend their treatment alone.
If you need someone to drive you to your appointment, we kindly ask that they wait in the car during your treatment, if possible.
However, if you would like a friend or family member present for translation, to help with medical history, or simply to make you feel more comfortable, they are very welcome to stay with you.
For baby osteopathy appointments, both parents or guardians are welcome to attend if they wish.
In the UK, children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian for all osteopathic appointments. The accompanying adult must provide the legal consent required for examination and treatment.
